Panepinto: “The Governor’s historic decision is both courageous and necessary.”
BUFFALO, N.Y. – Senator Marc Panepinto (D-Buffalo) issued the following statement regarding Governor Cuomo’s call to impanel a fast food Wage Board:
“The Governor’s historic decision to impanel a Wage Board, that includes Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown, for the fast food industry is both courageous and necessary. In Western New York and throughout New York State, the minimum wage currently serves as a poverty wage for too many struggling workers. For fast food employees, nearly 75% of whom are women and over two-thirds of whom are the primary wage earners in the their family, providing a living wage would be a life-changer. By once again taking action on this crucial income inequality issue, the Governor is doing what Senate Republicans have continuously and inexplicably failed to do. I commend the Governor for his bold efforts and look forward to continuing this fight for all New Yorkers because anyone who works full-time, deserves a fighting chance.”
