Senator Mike Nozzolio Announces Legislation Enacted to Honor Harriet Tubman

In honor of a great American heroine, New York State Senator Mike Nozzolio today announced that the New York State Senate and the New York State Assembly have enacted legislation, which he sponsored, that would permit the Harriet Tubman Home to have signage installed along the New York State Thruway.
Harriet Tubman, one of the most famous conductors on the Underground Railroad resided in Auburn, New York and her historic home is open to the public.
“Throughout our nation, more and more tourism activity is focused on visiting historic locations. There is no more beautiful place in the world than the Finger Lakes, and our region has a tremendous historical heritage, including that of Harriet Tubman. We must do everything possible to promote our heritage, and I encourage residents and tourists to visit the Harriet Tubman Home located in Auburn. ” said Senator Nozzolio.
Senator Nozzolio previously introduced legislation, now law, recognizing March 10 as “Harriet Tubman Day” in New York. Harriet Tubman is the first individual women to ever be recognized with this distinction.
“As the State Senator representing Auburn, home of Harriet Tubman, it has been one of my top priorities to ensure that the unique history that was made in our region is preserved, honored and celebrated now and in the years to come,” said Senator Nozzolio.
The legislation was enacted in the Assembly and will now be sent to the Governor.
