(Long Island City, NY) – Senator Michael Gianaris released the following statement in support of the Long Island City Partnership proposed Business Improvement District (BID) Expansion.
“I am proud to support the LIC BID’s proposed expansion to Hunter’s Point. Since 2005, the LIC BID has done exceptional work, enhancing our neighborhood and improving opportunities for local business and cultural institutions. I am proud to support the BID’s expansion so that it can bring the benefits of the improved services it provides to Vernon Boulevard as well.”
The proposed expansion would allow for the creation of a new sub-district along Jackson Avenue, Vernon Boulevard, and 44th Drive, expanding from its current sub-district which covers Queens Plaza/Court Square. The final result will incorporate small businesses, industrial manufactures, cultural institutions and residents alike, bringing economic growth and neighborhood improvements.
Senator Gianaris was an advocate for the Business Improvement Districts in Woodside and Sunnyside, focused on enhancing the neighborhood businesses and increasing job opportunities. Both have established great success.
