Senator Michael H. Ranzenhofer will be sponsoring an open-to-the-public blood drive with Unyts– Western New York’s only Organ, Eye, Tissue and Community Blood Center– during the 2015 Family Health Fair on Saturday, August 1st from 9 a.m. to noon at the Amherst Senior Center, 370 John James Audubon Parkway.
To schedule an appointment, visit www.unyts.org, click the “Donate Blood” icon and enter Sponsor Code 001201 or call Unyts at (716) 512-7940.
“One person needs blood every two seconds. Your blood donation can save up to three lives, helping our family members, friends and neighbors right here in Western New York. I encourage residents to schedule an appointment to help save lives,” said Senator Ranzenhofer.
“We are so thankful to be able to call Senator Ranzenhofer a partner in blood donation,” said Mark Simon, Unyts President & CEO. “This is an important commitment that the Senator has made not only to our local hospitals, but to the community as a whole.”
Donors must weigh a minimum of 110 pounds and be in good health. Donors should bring valid photo identification, wear comfortable clothing and drink more fluids than normal before donating on the day of the drive.
Senator Ranzenhofer’s Family Health Fair is co-sponsored by Kaleida Health and the Amherst Senior Center, in conjunction with Assemblyman Raymond Walter and Assemblywoman Jane Corwin. A total of 90 organizations will be offering a wide variety of health information, screenings and services.
