September 19th Events to Take Place in Waddington and Hammond
State Senator Patty Ritchie is reminding people that they can drop of waste tires free of charge at two events taking place on Saturday, September 19th in St. Lawrence County.
Hosted in conjunction with the St. Lawrence County Solid Waste Department, the waste tire drop off events are aimed at helping to clean up our region and reduce risks to public health by eliminating waste tires, which act as breeding ground for disease carrying mosquitoes.
“Throughout the past couple years, my waste tire disposal events have helped to eliminate 70 tons of tires throughout Central and Northern New York, helping to beautify our region and reduce the risk of diseases like EEE and West Nile” said Senator Ritchie.
“I’m hopeful that residents throughout our region will join in this effort by taking the time to get rid of any waste tires they might have on Saturday in St. Lawrence County.”
North Country residents can drop off tires from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the below locations:
· Waddington Town Garage, located at 48 Maple Street
· Hammond Town Garage, located at 1876 County Route 6 (Black Lake Road)
Residents will be permitted to dispose of up to eight tires, with the usual fee for drop off being waived. Please note that no rims or tractor tires will be accepted.
Made possible by special funding secured by Senator Ritchie, the free disposal events are part of a continuing effort to clean up our region and stop the spread of disease. In recent years, residents in Central and Northern New York have eliminated nearly 40,000 waste tires through Senator Ritchie’s free tire disposal events.
