Ritchie Honors Canton Mayor Mary Ann Ashley as a “Woman of Distinction” at Capitol Ceremony

State Senator Patty Ritchie honored Canton Mayor Mary Ann Ashley as a 2015 “Woman of Distinction” at a special ceremony held Wednesday at the State Capitol.
Currently serving as Mayor of the Village of Canton, Mayor Ashley is also a full-time counselor at St. Lawrence-Lewis BOCES in Norwood, NY. Prior to her role as Mayor, she served as a Canton Village Board Trustee, where she was instrumental in the establishment of a kayak rental program. Today, Mayor Ashley is actively involved in a number of community groups including the Canton Joint Recreation Committee, the St. Lawrence County Branch of the American Association of University Women, and many others.
Mayor Ashley was one of twenty women nominated for the New York State Senate’s “Women of Distinction” program who were recognized at a ceremony held last week at Watertown’s Roswell P. Flower Memorial Library.
