State Senator Patty Ritchie welcomed cadets from the United States Military Academy at West Point to the Capitol Wednesday as part of the Legislature’s “West Point Day.”
Two cadets from Jefferson County were included in the group; Cadet Nicholas Tyler of Adams, and Cadet Brandon Lloyd of Watertown. Both are graduates of South Jefferson High School.
“I have the honor and privilege of representing the brave soldiers of the 10th Mountain Division, and it’s because of this, that I get to see each and every day the sacrifices made by our troops and their families,” said Senator Ritchie.
“Cadet Tyler and Cadet Lloyd are following in their footsteps, and I could not be more proud of or more thankful for their decision to attend West Point and serve our country.”
As part of Wednesday’s “West Point Day” celebration, Cadet Tyler and Cadet Lloyd—along with other West Point Cadets—were recognized during the day’s Senate Session with the passage of a Senate Resolution in their honor. Video of Senator Ritchie’s comments on Resolution can be viewed on her website, www.ritchie.nysenate.gov.
