Funding to Support Library Addition, Heating for Arena

State Senator Patty Ritchie has announced she has secured $50,000 to help the Town of Clayton with costs associated with upgrades being made at the Depauville Free Library and Cerow Recreation Park arena.

A portion of the capital funding will be aimed at assisting the Depauville Free Library with the building of an addition that will include a children’s room and improvements to make the library more handicapped accessible.    The remainder of the funding will be used to construct a radiant heating system in the mezzanine—which currently isn’t heated—of the Cerow Recreation Park Arena.

“The Depauville Free Library and the Cerow Recreation Park area are two major parts of the local community; both providing unique opportunities for entertainment and enrichment,” said Senator Ritchie.  “I’m thrilled to be able to provide the support necessary to assist the town with making the necessary improvements to ensure both the library and the arena remain important parts of our region for many years to come.”

“We’ve made great strides in recent years in working to make Clayton a better place to live, work and visit,” said Clayton Town Supervisor Justin Taylor.  “We cannot thank Senator Ritchie enough for this funding, which will help us with our efforts to continue to make improvements to our community that benefit our region as a whole.”

Funding secured by Senator Ritchie represents only her most recent effort to assist Clayton with projects aimed at enhancing the local community.  Last year, Senator Ritchie secured $2,500 support upgrades at the Depauville Free Library.  In addition, she also recently secured $50,000 in special funding to help the Village of Clayton offset the costs associated with rebuilding its Wooden Castle Playground.
