Free Waste Tire Disposal to Take Place in Jefferson County on August 1st
State Senator Patty Ritchie is encouraging residents to help clean up Jefferson County by participating in her free waste tire disposal event, taking place on August 1st at the Jefferson County Recycling Center.
The disposal—which is similar to events that have resulted in the removal of more than 30,000 waste tires throughout Oswego and St. Lawrence Counties—is being hosted in conjunction with the Jefferson County Solid Waste Department.
“Cleaning up waste tires around one’s yard and roadside not only helps keep our community clean, it also helps to reduce the number of mosquitoes that carry deadly diseases like West Nile and EEE,” said Senator Ritchie.
“I’d like to thank the Jefferson County Solid Waste Department for partnering with me to make this event possible, and hope that residents will take advantage of this great opportunity to tidy up our county and reduce the risk of diseases caused by mosquitoes.”
The disposal event will take place at the County Recycling Center, located at 27138 NYS Route 12 in Watertown from 7:30 a.m. to noon. Residents will be permitted to drop off a total of eight tires, with the usual fee for drop off being waived. Truck and tractor tires must be cut into quarters.
