Senator Boyle pleased to report on the schedule update for repairs to the pothole-filled Sunrise Highway Service Roads in Babylon / West Islip.
June 18, 2015- Bay Shore, NY: Senator Phil Boyle has worked tirelessly to get the Sunrise Highway (NYS Rt. 27) Service Roads from Belmont Avenue to Udall Road repaired, and is excited to report that the project will be moving forward this summer with a completion date of November, 2015. The NY State Department of Transportation Region 10 Office had issued bids for the project on May 21st. It is anticipated that a contract award will be issued in late June and the contractor should be able to start the project sometime in July. The project completion date is slated for November.
Both the east- and westbound Service Roads, from Udall Road in West Islip to Belmont Avenue in Babylon will be repaired, with special attention to the badly deteriorated section of the westbound Service Road / NYS Rt. 231 interchange.
“Commuters, travelers and residents who have driven on the pothole-filled section of these Service Roads in the towns of Babylon and Islip all know the terrible condition of the roads,” said Senator Phil Boyle. “After two consecutive bad Winters and after receiving a multitude of complaints from constituents on the driving conditions, it has been a top priority of mine to have the roadways fixed as soon as possible. I too look forward to having these roads rehabilitated to a smooth riding condition very shortly.
