FUNKE DELIVERS SUPPORT FOR EAST ROCHESTER ROAD IMPROVEMENTS

Senator Rich Funke today announced that he has delivered $750,000 to support vital road improvement and rehabilitation projects in the Town/Village of East Rochester. Funke was joined at the announcement by East Rochester Mayor Fred Ricci, who will deploy the funds to make major improvements to 17 individual streets, accounting for nearly 33% of all roadways in the Town/Village.
“Everywhere I go in Monroe and Ontario counties, residents tell me that our aging transportation infrastructure needs new investment,” said Funke. “I’m proud this funding will help Mayor Ricci and his team make needed improvements on more than one third of all East Rochester roads. An investment in our infrastructure is an investment in our quality of life, because local families and businesses rely on these roads to succeed each and every day.”
The Town/Village of East Rochester has categorized at least ten of the streets to be addressed as major priority projects, which will require significant milling and paving work that has not been done in more than ten years. The remaining streets will receive chip-seal and micro-paving work to assist in extending the safe and usable life of the roadway surface. The streets to receive improvements include: East Avenue, 200 block; West Avenue, 200 block; Beachwood Drive, 400-500 blocks; Brizee Street in its entirety; Cedar Place in its entirety; E. Chestnut Street, 200-300 blocks; E. Elm Street, 100-300 blocks; W. Elm Street, 100 block; Garfield Avenue, 200-400 blocks; E. Hickory Street, 100 block; Magnolia Street, 100-400 blocks; Oak Street, 100-200 blocks; E. Spruce Street, 200 block; Walnut Street in its entirety; William Street in its entirety; Wilson Avenue in its entirety; and Woodbine Avenue in its entirety.
“This project covers 27 blocks and will assist in upgrading more than one third of all the streets in the community,” said Ricci. “This coupled with what has been done in the past 5 years as well as what is anticipated will assist in catching up on a most important infrastructure concern.”
The Town/Village of East Rochester anticipates the completion of the road resurfacing projects in the 2016 calendar year.
