"I ran for state office to take on intrusive, flawed government programs like Common Core. Our kids cannot succeed when bureaucrats in Washington and Albany are managing our classrooms. I applaud our federal representatives for passing the Every Child Succeeds Act to release states from onerous education mandates like Common Core. In addition, the State Common Core Task Force heard our concerns and released supportive recommendations to address this chaotic system. I’m hopeful the Board of Regents adopts all the recommendations. Finally, I’d like to thank all of our local parents and educators for their tireless work on this issue. I firmly believe that our hard work is paying off."
