SENATOR REV. RUBEN DIAZ AND REV. JOHNNIE GREEN TO LEAD NEARLY 100 MEMBERS OF NEW YORK'S BLACK AND HISPANIC CLERGY URGING STATE TO PASS BOLD CHANGES TO END FAILING SCHOOLS CRISIS
New York, NY - State Senator Ruben Diaz Sr. and Rev. Dr. Johnnie Green will lead nearly 100 prominent members of New York's Black and Hispanic clergy from the New York Hispanic Clergy Association and Mobilizing Preachers and Communities to gather on the steps of City Hall, Thursday, March 19 at 12:00 PM, urging elected officials in Albany for bold action fixing a statewide crisis that fails close to 800,000 students every year.
The New York Hispanic Clergy Association and Mobilizing Preachers and Communities represent nearly 650 Black and Hispanic churches across New York. Members of the clergy will declare a crisis in education in New York, as 143,000 students--mostly Black and Hispanic children--are trapped in schools where nine in ten students can't read or do math at grade level.
