COMMITTEE:
- Task Force on Lyme and Tick-Borne Diseases
As the new Chair of the Senate Task Force on Lyme and Tick-Borne Diseases, I know we need to be relentless in increasing public awareness and working to eradicate Lyme and tick-borne diseases.
For years, I’ve heard story, after devastating story, of local people whose lives have been forever changed by Lyme and as the mother of a son who has suffered the debilitating symptoms, I know that the frustration and the anxiety that accompany this struggle is very real.
That is why, since taking office, I have been tireless in my fight to combat the disease—securing an unprecedented $600,000 in the budget for two consecutive years to combat Lyme, meeting with experts from across the state, engaging our schools in outreach and awareness initiatives, introducing a package of bills aimed at education and prevention—and that’s just the start.
When it comes to safeguarding against Lyme, education and prevention are key, so I would like to invite you, and your family, to join me as the Task Force meets for an informational forum on Lyme Disease on June 27th from 6:00-7:30pm at John Jay High School.
As people spend more time outdoors after the harsh winter, everyone should be aware of how tick-borne diseases are transmitted. I hope that you and your family will join us at this year's event!
Sincerely,
Sue Serino
NYS Senator 41st District
Ps - I hope to see you on June 27th!
