Senator Sue Serino Secures Funding to Combat Lyme
ALBANY, NY—Senator Sue Serino (R, C, I—Hyde Park), Chair of the Task Force on Lyme and Tick-borne Diseases, announced today that she successfully secured $600,000 in the new State Budget for 2015-16 to continue the fight against these debilitating diseases.
“Almost everyone in the Hudson Valley can say that they know of someone suffering the symptoms of Lyme. As a community member, and as a mother of a son afflicted with those symptoms, I can speak first-hand to the importance of this funding.
I made a promise to my constituents that I would be relentless in the fight to eradicate Lyme Disease and dedicating $600,000 in this year’s budget speaks directly to our commitment to that critical cause.
I applaud my colleagues, on both sides of the aisle, and the Task Force’s former Chair, Senator Kemp Hannon, for their continued dedication to eradicating the disease that has affected so many in my district and beyond.
There is still more work to be done and ending the scourge of this terrible disease will remain a top priority for me throughout the remainder of this Legislative Session.”
The complete passage of the new 2015-16 State Budget wrapped up late Tuesday, March 31st.
