SERINO AWARDS LOCAL HERO STATE’S HIGHEST HONOR
ALBANY—Senator Sue Serino (R, C, I—Hyde Park) today announced that Putnam Valley firefighter, Frank Rush, was awarded the State’s highest honor for his heroic rescue of 70 year-old Moises Dreszer.
“Heroism comes in many forms,” said Senator Serino. “And action in the face of trouble is what sets a hero apart from a complicit crowd. Frank Rush is a true hero and I am proud to recognize him as such by presenting him with New York’s Liberty Metal.”
In January of this year, 70 year-old Moises Dreszer collapsed in Grand Central Station. It was there that Rush, a member of the Marine Reserves, administered CPR compressions that kept Dreszer alive until help from the MTA Police could arrive.
The New York State Senate Liberty Award is considered the State’s highest honor, only being presented to citizens who merit special commendation for acts of exceptional valor and dedication.
Rush, home on leave from Reserve training, was in Albany Tuesday to accept the award during the Legislative Session.
