YORKTOWN, NY - With the fall season nearly upon us, the nation will soon be paying tribute to veterans on November 11th. To commemorate the 77th recognition of this important day, New York State Senator Terrence Murphy will be hosting several upcoming events to pay tribute to the Hudson Valley's local veterans.

When it comes to veterans, there is no task too small, said Murphy, who last year served as a guardian for the Hudson Valley Honor Flight's inaugural trip from Westchester County Airport. "Without these incredibly brave men and women, our world would be completely different today," he said.

"The very least we as a community can do is offer a special thank you and recognize their service and sacrifice," Senator Murphy said.

Senator Murphy's Thank A Veteran Tour has three stops currently scheduled.

On October 10th, in partnership with the Town of Mount Pleasant Community Center, Senator Murphy will be hosting a free veterans pancake breakfast at the Mount Pleasant.

On Sunday, November 1st, joining State Senator Sue Serino and Putnam County Executive MaryEllen Odell, the trio will be hosting the 2015 Veterans' Chow Down at the Putnam County Golf Course.

Finally, on Thursday, November 19th, Senator Murphy will host the Senate's Veterans Hall of Fame induction ceremony at Sinapi's Ceola Manor in Jefferson Valley.

State Senator Sue Serino said, "The 2015 Chow Down is an opportunity for local vets and their guests to come together, share a meal, learn about some unique resources available to them, and -more importantly- to remind that that they have an incredibly grateful community behind them. While words are rarely enough to truly thank our veterans -and their families- for the countless sacrifices they have made on our behalf, it's important that we take every opportunity to show our gratitude and that's what the event is all about."

Putnam County Executive MaryEllen Odell said, "Providing a complimentary meal to local veterans from the Putnam and Northern Westchester area is a simple gesture to show the men and women, who has served in the U.S. Armed Forces, how much we appreciate the sacrifices they made defending our freedoms. The 2015 Veterans' Chow Downs also gives us an opportunity to support the work of the Putnam County Veterans Service Agency through the Joseph P. Dwyer Veterans Peer-to-Peer Support Project."

Mount Pleasant Supervisor Carl Fulgenzi said. "The Mount Pleasant community is thrilled to partner with Senator Murphy to show our appreciation to our local veterans for their service to our nation. The fourteenth anniversary of the terrorist attacks on 9/11 offered another reminder that freedom is not free but everyday our way of life is protected by the brave men and women serving our nation."

Veterans are asked to RSVP for both the pancake breakfast and Chow Down on Senator Murphy's website or by clicking here. For further questions, or to RSVP, veterans and their families are encouraged to call Senator Murphy's office at (914) 962-2624.
