Statement from Senator Tim Kennedy on the Supreme Court’s Nationwide Legalization of Marriage Equality
Timothy M. Kennedy
June 26, 2015
“When New York legalized marriage equality in 2011, nobody could have imagined it would have spread nationwide in only four years. For me, affirming the right for two adults to express their love through the institution of marriage was one of the proudest moments I have had during my tenure in the New York State Senate, and I am thrilled that couples nationwide will have access to this fundamental right. The Supreme Court made the right decision both morally and legally, and today is a day to celebrate for the LGBT community and its allies. The fight for full LGBT equality is far from over, but victory has never been closer.”
