June 21, 2015
(ALBANY, NY) Today, State Senator Tony Avella announced that he has been named Chair of the Senate Committee on Children and Families. The prestigious committee position, which handles a wide portfolio of bills, was assigned to Senator Avella on Thursday, June 18th.
As the previous Chair of Social Services, Senator Avella’s past experience will significantly inform his new role. In addition, the new committee position is a natural compliment to Senator Avella’s Task Force on the Delivery of Social Services in New York City.
“I am thrilled to announce that I will be the new Chair of the Senate Committee on Children and Families. With my previous experience as the Chair of Social Services, and as the current Chair of the Task Force on the Delivery of Social Services in New York City, I look forward to continuing my role in addressing the needs of our most vulnerable populations. As we look toward next year’s session, as Chair of Children and Families I am wholly committed to working towards a better quality of life for all of New York’s children and families,” said Senator Tony Avella.
