Senator Bill Larkin Announces Over $350,000 in Construction Grants to Support Local Libraries

New Windsor, NY - Senator Bill Larkin (R, C – Cornwall-On-Hudson) announced today that the New York State Library has awarded over $350,000 in construction grants to four local libraries in the 39th Senate District. “Any investment in our local libraries is an investment in our children’s future,” stated Senator Bill Larkin. “These construction grants will help maximize services offered to residents throughout the Hudson Valley, improve accessibility for seniors and create a more energy efficient infrastructure.” The Pine Bush Public Library will receive $2,500 to address energy efficiency opportunities based on an audit from NYSERDA. Specifically, this project will replace air conditioning, lighting and add insulation. The Moffat Library of Washingtonville will receive $64,364 for preliminary building demolition and site preparation for the proposed addition and renovation of Moffat Library. The Tompkins Cove Library in Rockland County will receive $8,880 to install air conditioning on the second floor of the library and replace the existing sign in front of the building. The Monroe Free Library will receive $260,432 which will be used to completely renovate the existing 5,858 sq. ft. building adding, 2,340 sq. ft. of new building. “We can’t thank Senator Larkin enough for always having the interests of the Monroe Community at heart”, said Village of Monroe Mayor Jim Purcell. “The Senator has always recognized that the Monroe Free Library is an anchor for our Village and these improvements will only add to what is already a great place to live, work and raise a family.”
