Senator Young Recognizes Ray Eckholm Jr., For His Service to the Community of Celoron

CELORON – Senator Catharine Young (R,C,I- 57th District) joined members of Celoron Hose Company No. 1 at its annual banquet to recognize their accomplishments.
During the awards banquet, Ray Eckholm Jr., was honored for 65 years of service.
"Our volunteer fire departments are made up of courageous men and women who put their lives on hold when others need help. The Celoron Hose Company is called upon in some of the harshest conditions, often facing unknown obstacles when they arrive on the scene. The department has a distinguished history and it remains devoted to serving the community, both through fire protection and its support of many civic activities,” said Senator Young.
“As a chaplain Ray has brought hope, inspiration, and comfort to many people over the years. In good times and bad, Ray has been there to serve his community, and his prayers and volunteerism have made a difference in many lives,” Senator Young said.
Major John Eckholm, Ray's son, was visiting from North Carolina and was with his father when Ray was recognized for his many years of faithful service.
Chief Tim Nelson, Top Responder for 2015 and Top Drill Practice Attendee for 2015, was also honored by the department during the awards banquet. Celoron Hose Company No. 1 was led in 2015 by Chief Tim Nelson and President Rose Nelson.
