State Champion Livonia Girls Varsity Basketball Team Honored By Senator Young

LIVONIA – The Class B State Champion Livonia Lady Bulldogs were honored for their remarkable season today by Senator Catharine Young (R,C,I- 57th District).
Senator Young presented team members and coaches with New York State Resolutions commending their remarkable season that culminated in a 74-63 win over Westhill Central School at Hudson Valley Community College in Troy, New York, on Saturday, March 12, 2016.
“The Lady Bulldogs are an extremely talented group of young women,” said Senator Young. “They had a remarkable season and truly epitomize the success that can result when teamwork, dedication and tenacity are mixed with great coaching.
“Congratulations also goes to the coaches and parents who guided these young ladies on and off the court. The team was extremely humble when I met them, and that is a reflection of the values instilled upon them by their school and community,” she said.
Senior Molly Stewart was named first-team all-state by the New York State Sportswriters Association. She was the leading scorer for the Lady Bulldogs, averaging 15.4 points, 6.9 rebounds and 4 assists per game.
The Lady Bulldogs are coached by Head Coach Karen Schuster and Junior Varsity Coach Dave Stewart.
