Carlucci Petition to Restore VA Shuttle Services Reaches Nearly 500 Signatures in 24 Hours
December 21, 2016
Rockland County, NY – Earlier this week, State Senator David Carlucci (D-Rockland/Westchester) launched a petition calling on the U.S. Department of Veteran's Affairs to reverse their decision to eliminate a critical shuttle service for Veterans on January 30th. The shuttle service departs from the New City Community Clinic and transports Veterans to VA Hospitals in the region including the Montrose and Castle Point Facilities. In 24 hours, nearly 500 individuals have signed the Senator's petition, demonstrating the real community outrage at this decision.
"This attempt to manage Veterans health services with a cookie cutter approach has clearly ignored the real needs of Rockland Veterans," Carlucci said. "Access to quality healthcare is what our Veterans need and deserve and this reduction in services is a direct slap in the face to those who have served our country. The volume of people signing this petition in a short period of time is clearly indicative of where the community priorities are and the VA must understand that they are failing on their mission to serve."
