AMEDORE BILL TO HELP FARM-BASED CIDERIES PASSES SENATE
June 1, 2016
Senator George Amedore today announced Senate passage of his legislation (S.5341) to allow farm-based cideries to sell New York State wine, beer, and spirits by the glass for consumption on premise.
Under current law, farm wineries and farm breweries are permitted to sell cider by the glass, but farm cidery licensees cannot sell beer, wine or spirits by the glass. Senator Amedore's bill fixes the law to create parity between the licenses.
“We want to do everything possible to encourage the expansion of New York’s farm beverage industry,” said Senator George Amedore. “Allowing farm cideries to offer other New York State produced beers, wines, and spirits encourages cross promotion of all the great products New York State has to offer and will help this important piece of our economy continue to grow and flourish.”
The bill was sent to the Assembly, where it is sponsored by Assemblywoman Patricia Fahy.
