SENATOR AMEDORE HONORS THE HONORABLE DEBORAH A. SLEZAK AS A NYS SENATE “WOMAN OF DISTINCTION”

State Senator George Amedore recognized the Honorable Deborah A. Slezak for her  many years of public service at the Senate’s annual Women of Distinction awards, held last night at the Legislative Office Building in Albany.

 

“The Senate’s annual Women of Distinction ceremony recognizes women who have made outstanding contributions to their community, and it was a privilege to honor Deb Slezak, who has a long history of public service, charitable work in her community, and a is a partner at a successful women-owned and operated law firm,” said Senator Amedore. “Montgomery County is fortunate to have her, and I want to thank her for all she has done for our community.”

 

The Honorable Deborah A. Slezak is a partner at Cioffi & Slezak & Wildgrube, P.C., an entirely women-owned and operated law firm.Deb’s practice is concentrated primarily in the areas of elder law, guardianship, estate planning and administration.  In her 20 years of practice, she has lectured on topics of elder law and estate planning for the NYS Bar Association, businesses and many community groups.
 

In addition to her private practice, Deb was the Town Attorney for the Town of Amsterdam from October of 1996 through November of 2009.  She resigned her position as Town Attorney upon making a successful bid for the position of Town Justice of the Town of Amsterdam, a position she still serves in. 
 

She is a member of the New York State Bar Association, a member of the Schenectady County and Montgomery County Bar Associations, and the Women’s Bar Association of the State of New York. She is the Chair of the SCBA’s Trust and Estates and Elder Law Committee and Secretary of the Board of the SCBA.
 

In addition to her busy professional life, Deborah is an active community volunteer, She served on the Board of Directors of the Amsterdam YMCA from 1997 through 2008 and was a past Board President; and on Amsterdam’s Saint Mary’s Hospital Board of Trustees.  She volunteers at her church; and at her children’s schools: she is a Booster Club Member of the Amsterdam High School Drama Club, the AHS Marching Rams; the AHS Boys Soccer Team; and Girls Cross Country Team.
