March 1, 2016

State Senator George Amedore today invited residents throughout the 46th Senate District to submit nominations for the Senate’s 2016 Women of Distinction awards ceremony, an annual celebration that recognizes women who have made outstanding contributions to their community.

One honoree from the 46th district will be recognized at a May 10th ceremony in Albany, along with honorees from throughout the rest of the state. A special exhibit featuring the honorees will be on display in the Legislative Office Building for the event.

“In honor of Women’s History Month, I encourage residents to submit nominations for this year’s Women of Distinction ceremony. The 46th Senate District is home to so many extraordinary women who do so much to improve the lives of those around them, and to make our communities a better place to live,” said Senator Amedore. “This annual event is an opportunity to recognize their outstanding contributions, and extend our thanks for all they do for us.”

Previous honorees at the annual event have included leading women from various industries, including business women, leaders in academics and civic arenas, those who have performed heroic acts, or those who have persevered and demonstrated personal excellence in the face of adversity.
