SENATOR AMEDORE: NO LEGISLATIVE PAY RAISE
August 13, 2016
Senator George Amedore today called on the state Commission on Legislative, Judicial and Executive Compensation to reject a salary increase for state lawmakers. Reports indicate that the commission is currently considering an increase in the base pay of state lawmakers of up to 47 percent.
"I will stand with the taxpayers of New York and the residents of the 46th Senate District and say 'absolutely not' to an increase in pay for state lawmakers," said Senator Amedore. "My priority is easing the burden on our taxpayers, not adding to it with an excessive pay increase for elected officials."
Since being elected, Senator Amedore has been a strong, consistent voice against legislative pay raises.
"Holding office is about serving the residents of my district. At a time when so many families, businesses and seniors are struggling to get by, the idea of a 47 percent pay increase for lawmakers is outrageous," said Senator Amedore.
