Senator Jack M. Martins (R-7th Senate District) recently congratulated Manhasset resident Patricia O’Brien on being named one of the State’s Senior Day Honorees. Senator Martins welcomed Mrs. O’Brien to the Senate Chambers during her visit to Albany to receive her award from the New York State Office for the Aging.
Senior Day is an annual event where seniors from across the state are honored for their extraordinary volunteer efforts and contributions to the community. Mrs. O’Brien was nominated for the honor by the Nassau County Office for the Aging in recognition of her many years of extensive community service.
Mrs. O’Brien is deeply involved in giving back to her community; she volunteers at St. Francis Hospital and Adventures in Learning, which provides math tutoring to high school students, and holds a leadership role at her hometown church of St. Mary’s. She’s been extremely active in helping local veterans. As a member of the Manhasset American Legion’s Auxiliary, she has raised funds to support returning veterans, organized collection drives to send care packages to overseas troops, and helped provide veterans with transportation to the VA Medical Center in Northport.
