Senator Jack M. Martins (R-7th Senate District) recently met with Port Washington Board of Education member Larry Greenstein to discuss education issues. Mr. Greenstein met with Senator Martins to discuss the district’s overwhelming support for getting rid of the harmful Gap Elimination Adjustment (GEA) which cut state education aid from the district back in 2009, before Senator Martins took office.
Senator Martins, who has been fighting to end the GEA since he was first elected to the Senate and has already substantially reduced it over the last few years, reinforced his strong commitment to ending the GEA. Senator Martins and the Senate Republican Conference have committed to ending the GEA this year once and for all. Senator Martins also pledged to continue fighting for increased state education aid to Port Washington and other local school districts as he has done every year since becoming a Senator.
