Senator Martins, Manhasset CASA, and Nassau Police Collect 1,500 Pounds of Old Medications for Safe Disposal

     Senator Jack M. Martins (R-7th Senate District) recently partnered with the Manhasset Community Coalition Against Substance Abuse (CASA) and the Nassau County Police Department to hold a Shed the Meds program where residents could safely dispose of their old, unwanted medications.  The program was held at Shelter Rock School in Manhasset.

     Approximately 1,500 pounds of medications were collected for safe disposal by the Nassau County Police Department.

     “Safely disposing of over 1,500 pounds of old medications will make an enormous difference in protecting the environment and the community.  It’s wonderful to see so many residents take advantage of the opportunity to help keep these drugs from falling into the wrong hands or polluting our waterways.   Thanks to each of them for making this program a tremendous success, as well as to Manhasset CASA and the Nassau County Police Department for once again partnering with me to provide this service,” said Senator Martins.
