Senator Martins, Manhasset CASA, and Nassau Police Collect 900 Pounds of Old Medications for Safe Disposal

     Senator Jack M. Martins (R-7th Senate District) recently partnered with the Manhasset Community Coalition Against Substance Abuse (CASA) and the Nassau County Police Department to hold a Shed the Meds program where residents could safely dispose of their old, unwanted medications.  The program was held at Shelter Rock School in Manhasset.

     Approximately 900 pounds of medications were collected for safe disposal by the Nassau County Police Department.

     “Everyone who safely disposed of medications through this program really made a difference.  Nearly a half ton of medications were kept out of the waterways and away from the wrong hands.  Thanks to all who participated for making this our most successful Shed the Meds program to date, as well as to Manhasset CASA and the Nassau Police for partnering with me to provide this service,” said Senator Martins.
