Senator Jack M. Martins (R-7th Senate District) is reminding taxpayers expecting a state and/or federal income tax refund that they can track the status of their refund online.
Both the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance and the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) have online tracking systems which allow residents whose income tax returns indicated they will be receiving a refund to find out when they can expect it to arrive. Both systems are updated daily to reflect new information as tax returns are processed. There is no fee to utilize these services.
Residents can take advantage of the free tax refund tracking services by clicking here. Residents should have a copy of their income tax returns on hand when using the tracking service, as they will need to provide their social security number, the exact amount of their anticipated refund, and their tax filing status.
