Senator Martins Secures State Grant For Herricks School District

     Senator Jack M. Martins (R-7th Senate District) announced that he has secured state grant funding for new educational technology at Herricks High School.

     The $10,000 in funding will be used to purchase a classroom set of Chromebooks and incorporate them into the school’s instructional programming.  Chromebooks can be used to access the Internet during lessons, creating a more interactive learning experience for students.  Apps and books can be loaded into the Chromebooks for use as part of classroom lessons or by students individually.

     “The digital age has changed so many facets of life, including education.  Modern technology allows for a more interactive, hands-on learning experience.  Utilizing Chromebooks in the classroom will benefit students and teachers by making lessons far more engaging and effective.  I’m pleased to assist the Herricks School District with this innovative program,” said Senator Martins. 

     “The Herricks School District greatly appreciates the efforts of Senator Martins to secure a state grant for the purchase of additional Chromebooks for our students. This will go a long way to support our initiatives to prepare students with 21st Century skills, which include problem solving, critical thinking, and collaboration. Using instructional technology provides vast opportunities for teachers to emphasize cognitive engagement in their lessons,” said Herricks School District Superintendent Dr. Fino Celano.
