ONEONTA, 08/15/16 -- State Senator James L. Seward (R/C/I – Oneonta) today applauded the announcement of state grants and low or no interest loans for municipal water infrastructure improvement projects in the 51st Senate District:
“Quality water is something people expect when they turn on the faucet and it is a crucial component of our local economic development efforts. However, the municipalities I represent are already stretched thin, and major water system upgrades just aren’t in the budget for most. By utilizing state funds, these vital infrastructure improvement projects will move forward without overburdening taxpayers.”
As part of the 2016-17 state budget, the legislature increased the governor’s proposed water infrastructure improvement funding by $100 million for a total of $400 million over three years.
