Sanders Brings Mobile Office to Springfield Gardens; Listens to Constituent Concerns
February 19, 2016
State Senator James Sanders Jr. (D-Rochdale Village) brought his mobile office to Springfield Gardens yesterday where he met one-on-one with residents, listening to their concerns and suggestions, some of which included safety and quality of life issues.
The event was held at Birch Family Services, located at 145-02 Farmers Boulevard, and representatives from several city agencies were also on hand to offer assistance to attendees. Featured guests included: NYC Department of Transportation, NYC Department of Environmental Protection, NYC Human Resources Administration, NYPD and Neighborhood Housing Services of Jamaica.
"It is always a pleasure for me to meet with my constituents, whom I refer to as my bosses, " Sanders said. "I represent them, I work for them and I serve them. I always want to remain informed of the issues affecting their lives and what I can do to help."
Among the concerns expressed by attendees were flooding issues stemming from clogged catch basins, commercial truck traffic traveling down residential streets and the need for a stop sign on 147th Avenue between Springfield and Guy R. Brewer boulevards.
The mobile office initiative was created as part of an effort to reach out to more constituents and make it easier for them to access services. It will travel to different areas of Senator Sanders’ district on a rotating basis. While at the Birch Family Services, Sanders’ staffers took careful notes and filled out constituent intake forms so they could examine specific issues in greater detail and follow-up with extended help.
