My thoughts and prayers are with the family, friends and loved ones of Judith Kaye, the former Chief Judge of the Court of Appeals, who recently passed away.
As the first woman to rise to the position of Chief Judge, she was a trailblazer for New York women who were seeking to establish a career for themselves in law or in the Courts. In more than 15 years as Chief Judge, Judith Kaye cemented herself as a thoughtful jurist and dedicated public servant for New York.
Even after leaving the Court, Judge Kaye continued to serve the profession and left a lasting imprint not only on the Judiciary, but also on New York.
She will be missed by all.
