It is with great sadness that I join our entire state and nation in mourning the loss of the former President of Israel Shimon Peres. A firm advocate for peace, Shimon Peres was a respected leader throughout the world and his death is a great loss for all.
His decades of service to the Israeli people were aimed at protecting their rights while bringing stability to the region. Those efforts were recognized when he won the Nobel Peace Prize for his efforts to create peace in the Middle East and continued throughout his entire life.
I salute Shimon Peres for his years of work and send my deepest sympathies to his family and his nation.
