Senator Serrano co-sponsored a rally against E-Cigarette companies advertising to children with NYC Comptroller Scott Stringer and NYC Public Advocate Letitia James. Serrano joined local and citywide elected officials in standing up to e-cigarette companies that are targeting our youth and urged that the FDA and FTC study and regulate e-cigarettes.
"Nothing is more important than the health and development of the young people in our community. Over the years, we've made enormous progress in decreasing tobacco use among minors, but now we're facing a similar threat with the rise of electronic cigarettes. To help protect the health and well-being of our children, I join my colleagues in demanding that e-cigarette companies begin to act ethically in regard to advertising and urge the FTC and FDA to study and regulate e-cigarettes. Many thanks to New York City Comptroller Scott M. Stringer and Public Advocate Letitia James for bringing this important issue to the forefront."
