Senator Serrano Marches In The 27th Bronx Dominican Day Parade
August 5, 2016
This month Senator Serrano participated in the 27th anniversary of the Bronx Dominican Day Parade. Thousands of people marched down the Grand Concourse, from East Tremont Avenue to 167th Street, celebrating Dominican heritage. Residents of New York City from all backgrounds came together to sing, dance and socialize, highlighting the impact that the Dominican Republic has had in the unified communities of Bronx.
"The Dominican culture plays a huge role in the Bronx Community and the nation. It's wonderful to be able to celebrate its influence with many of my colleagues, including Assembly Member Victor Pichardo, Council Member Vanessa L. Gibson, Congressman Jose E. Serrano, Senator Gustavo Rivera, Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. and more. Every year this parade reminds us of the great history of the Dominican Republic, and allows us to honor the major progress of the Dominican-Americans."
