Senator Serrano was joined by the Mayor's Office of Immigrant Affairs, The Tenant Support Unit of HRA and The New York County District Attorney's Office for this month's off-site constituent service hours. These organizations met with constituents throughout the district in order to share information about the immigration services available to them. Representatives from these offices assisted individuals who needed free legal support through the Mayor's Action NYC initiative and helped people sign up for their free IDNYC municipal identification cards. They also gave presentations in order to raise awareness about how immigrants communities can protect themselves from fraudulent schemes, and provide information about the many services and resources available to those in the immigrant communities experiencing tenant harassment.
"I have always been a firm ally of the immigrant communities both in the 29th Senate District and throughout New York State. Bringing these vital services out to the communities throughout my district was an important step towards ensuring that the immigration population is aware of some of the services available to them. Special thanks to Assembly Member Latoya Joyner, Assembly Member Robert Rodriguez, Assembly Member Rebecca Seawright, Council Member Ben Kallos, the Mayor's Office of Immigrant Affairs, The Tenant Support Unit of HRA and The New York County District Attorney's Office for their work and participation throughout these events."
