- Ethics Reform
Senator Serrano signed on to the Clean Conscience Pledge, which holds New York State lawmakers to higher ethical standards by calling on lawmakers to limit outside income for elected officials, eliminate unlimited corporate donations and greatly improve transparency. Throughout his career in government, Senator Serrano has always fought for increased reform and transparency in government. One of his bills, pending in the Senate, would establish a review process for discretionary spending (S.957), while helping to root out corruption and conflicts of interests in a process that is too often veiled in secrecy.
"I remain committed to ending corruption in Albany and restoring public confidence in New York State government. I look forward to continuing the important fight for legislation that would limit outside income for legislators, restrict the ability of special interests to contribute unlimited amounts of money to candidates, and increase transparency in the budgeting process during this year's legislative session."
