Howard Beach, NY (June 7, 2016) As part of a continuing effort to help residents of his district find work, Senator Joseph P. Addabbo, Jr. hosted his annual Senior Job Fair last week in Kew Gardens.

More than 100 job seekers visited with nearly 20 companies and organizations from various industries on Friday to discuss possible employment opportunities. The event, held at the site of the co-sponsor, Queens Community House in Kew Gardens, offered individuals 55 and older looking for work the opportunity to meet one on one with companies seeking to hire seniors.

“Finding a job is a daunting task to begin with, but it is especially difficult for our senior population,” said Addabbo. “The cost of living continues to rise, and more and more New Yorkers over the age of 55 find themselves having to reenter the workforce or starting over in a new career field. It is important that we provide them with the tools necessary to find steady employment that will allow them to continue to support themselves and live independent lives. I am proud to have once again hosted this event and look forward to connecting people with work through my future job fairs. I thank Queens Community House for their support and for partnering with me to make this year’s event yet another success.”

Addabbo frequently hosts job fairs and hiring events throughout the year, including a general job fair with around 100 vendors for candidates of all ages that is being planned for October.
