Howard Beach, NY (May 13, 2016) This week, Senator Joseph P. Addabbo, Jr. joined forces with the Jewish Board of Family and Children’s Services to host a hiring event in Kew Gardens Hills.
Dozens of job seekers visited the Jewish Center of Kew Gardens Hills on Wednesday, May 11, to meet with representatives from the Jewish Board and interview for several open positions within the organization, which focuses on providing counseling and other health and wellness services to New Yorkers in need. The representatives met with close to 50 applicants during the hiring event and were impressed with the quality of experience and skills many of them brought to the table.
Addabbo regularly partners with local businesses and organizations to hosts hiring events throughout the year, including a Senior Job Fair coming up on June 3 and a general job fair being planned for October.
“All of us have experienced how hard it can be to find a job, and I am always eager to do what I can do help those who may be struggling to find work,” said Addabbo. “Partnerships such as this one with the Jewish Board make it easy to bring jobs right to the community by allowing individuals looking for work to meet directly with an organization looking to fill multiple positions. No matter what type of work you are looking for, hiring events are a great way to get a foot in the door in a particular field and make a face-to-face connection with an employer. I thank the Jewish Board for partnering with me to host this event as well as the Jewish Center of Kew Gardens Hills for allowing us to use their space to do so. I look forward to a continued partnership with this organization and even more job fairs in the future.”
Addabbo is planning another hiring event with the Jewish Board in July to focus on hiring specifically nurses and social workers.
