Addabbo to Sponsor Free Dental Cleanings for Kids
July 26, 2016
Howard Beach, NY (July 26, 2016) Next month, Senator Joseph P. Addabbo, Jr. will partner with the NYU College of Dentistry to host a visit from the Mobile Dental Van in his district.
From 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on August 9 and August 10, dental hygienists from the NYU College of Dentistry will be present at the STARS Youth Center, located at 8 Coleman Square in Howard Beach, to perform free teeth cleanings and dental exams for children under 16. The patients will also be given a free fluoride treatment and x-rays, and the technicians will also perform any necessary fillings or ceilings based on the results of the child’s exam.
“Dental hygiene is one of the most important things to maintain, but it can be very expensive,” said Senator Addabbo. “Even if a parent has dental coverage through their health insurance, sometimes the cost of care for their child can still break the bank, especially for families on a strict budget that cannot withstand the unexpected costs associated with fillings or even regular teeth cleanings. That is why I am grateful to the NYU College of Dentistry for the work they do with the Mobile Youth Dental Van and for the opportunity to bring this wonderful resource to my district. I thank the college for working with me on this event and look forward to future partnerships to help benefit even more kids in need of proper dental care.”
Parents interested in having an exam or cleaning performed for their child MUST make an appointment prior to the event date. Insurance is not required.
