K9 Veterans Day Press Conference Pictures: Albany, NY – Senator Kathy Marchione (R,C,I-Halfmoon), Chair of the Senate’s Local Government Committee, and Assemblyman Angelo Santabarbara (D-Rotterdam), today renewed their bi-partisan push to establish March 13 as New York State’s official observance of “K9 Veterans Day.” Senator Marchione and Assemblyman Santabarbara were joined by Saratoga County Sheriff Michael Zurlo, Saratoga County Sheriff's Department K9 Kyle and members of the Schenectady County Sheriff's Department. The Majority lawmakers and members of law enforcement advocated for the K9 Veterans Day recognition during an Albany press conference held this morning. K9 Veterans Day is intended to honor the service and sacrifice of dogs that aid members of America’s armed forces, law enforcement and public safety. Senator Marchione and Assemblyman Santabarbara sponsor bi-partisan legislation (Senate Bill S.3826/Assembly Bill A.2232) that would formally establish New York State’s annual observance of K9 Veterans Day as March 13.
