Albany, NY – Senator Kathy Marchione (R,C,I-Halfmoon), Chair of the Senate’s Local Government Committee and Member of the Senate Finance Committee, today announced that the Capital District Transportation Authority (CDTA) will receive $740,135 in State Transit Aid.
The funding – which includes $340,693 via the Assembly and $399,442 via the Senate, respectively – will be derived from the agreed-upon non-MTA Transit Aid from the State’s Transportation Capital Plan funding for State Fiscal Year s2013-14 and 2014-15. The Senate, Assembly and Governor were each allowed to allocate $5 million toward this important aid. Today’s announced funding is on top of the following Transit Capital Funding:
- $5 million in FY 2014;
- $5 million in FY 2015; and
- $37.4 million in FY 2016
“I’m pleased to announce this funding as it will assist CDTA in continuing its vital mission of providing high-quality local, express, commuter and bus rapid transit services throughout our Capital Region, serving 60,000 customers every weekday. Just as we need to continue investing in safer roads and better bridges, we also must provide the necessary funding so transit entities like CDTA can continue serving their customers,” Senator Marchione said.
Also included within the State Department of Transportation’s Capital Plan is funding to complete the initial phase of the Hudson Links Bus Rapid Transit project. This funding fulfills the Governor’s commitment to ensure that the infrastructure is in place to deploy and operate the new service in time for the opening of the New NY Bridge.
