Senator Parker Host 9th Annual Job Fair

BROOKLYN, NY (6/29/16) –On Tuesday, June 28, State Senator Kevin Parker in partnership with Councilman Jumaane D. Williams hosted his 9th Annual Job Fair at the Brooklyn College Student Union Center at Brooklyn College. The event, co-sponsored by Opportunity For A Better Tomorrow (OBT) and MetroPlus, welcomed over 200 job seekers to take advantage of resume writing workshops, interview prep sessions, as well as on-site interviews with recruiters from various organizations.
“Unemployment is an critical issue that cannot be ignored. It is important that we do our part so that residents in my district and the larger Central Brooklyn community are made aware of the job opportunities available to them and are given additional support to help them land the job. This event encompasses all of those factors and I am very grateful to the recruiters that come out year after year to provide opportunities to those seeking employment,” said Senator Parker.
“I look forward to the annual job fair that my office partners in alongside Senator Kevin Parker year after year. While the country has gradually bounced back from the recession, many are still feeling its effects. We can’t ignore these families. Events such as these help us as legislators to affect these numbers and bring resources and hope to our constituents,” said Council Member Jummanne D. Williams.
During the event attendees were able to meet recruiters from some of the following organizations:
FedEx, Brookdale Hospital, Gap Inc., Administration For Children’s Services (ACS), Manhattan School Of Technology, Penda Aiken, Inc., National Guard, IDNYC, Carver Bank, New York Police Department (NYPD), Army, Primerica, Office of Workforce Diversity/New York State Unified Court System, NYC Department of Corrections, Camba, SUS New York, Housing & Family Services of Greater New York, New York Department of Labor, SUNY Brooklyn Educational Opportunity Center (BEOC), New York Public Library, Preferred Home Care of New York, Pre-K For All, Catholic Charities Fatherhood Program, ConEd, Division of Enforcement and Neighborhood Services, and more…
