BROOKLYN, NY (10/15/16) – Over the course of three days and at different locations throughout the 21st Senate District, Senator Kevin Parker, in conjunction with Citi Health Home Care Services, Duanereade by Walgreens, New York Methodist Hospital, and Lenox Road Baptist Church hosted the legislator’s Annual Flu Shot event. More than 100 community residents received flu shots and were able access resources from organizations like Citi Health, WellCare, Camba and SmartEMS. “Every year I am delighted to work with community partners to offer flu shots to the residents of Central Brooklyn. As the weather begins to change, it is important that we, especially our seniors, take the necessary steps to protect ourselves from the potentially deadly virus,” said Parker.
Attendees with insurance were billed through their insurance companies; those without were able to receive the flu shot free of charge thanks to Duanereade by Walgreens.
“As health and wellness is paramount today more than ever, I applaud our sponsors, especially Duanereade by Walgreens, who provided the service for free to those without insurance. Accessibility is always the number one concern for me when allocating resources and providing services to residents across our great State,” concluded the Brooklyn lawmaker.
