NEW YORK – The new year has brought new incentives for Con Edison customers who purchase eligible energy-efficient appliances for their homes.
The company will give customers $75 for buying eligible high-efficiency refrigerators, $50 for dishwashers, $35 for clothes washers and $20 for dehumidifiers.
And though air conditioning may not be first on New Yorkers’ minds during winter, customers will need to cool off a few months from now. Con Edison will help residential customers with $30 rebates for eligible room ACs.
“Customers who take a look at our energy efficiency incentives for 2016 will find many ways to lower their usage and save money, just as 250,000 customers have done since we started our programs,” said Vicki Kuo, director of Energy Efficiency for Con Edison. “We think the increased incentives and new appliances in our residential program will be attractive to customers.”

Owners of multi-family buildings with at least five residential units can qualify for incentives as well.
The multifamily program provides incentives for upgrades to gas and electric equipment. Eligible projects include LED light fixtures, high efficiency boilers, pipe insulation, roof insulation, and energy management systems. Con Edison is also taking applications from residential customers with central air conditioning (cooling) for a free smart thermostat, app and installation ($400 value), and a $25 check. Customers with central air can also buy an Internet-connected thermostat from a Con Edison-approved service provider, and receive $85.
