Brooklyn – State Senator Martin J. Golden (R-C-I, Brooklyn) is today announcing that he will again serve as the leading sponsor of two upcoming Halloween themed events to be held in local parks, giving the community a chance to celebrate the Fall season and have a safe alternative to trick or treating.
Senator Golden, with the support of the Marine Park Civic Association, The Friends of the Lott House and the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation, will host the 31st Annual Marine Park Halloween Fall Festival this Saturday, October 29, 2016, from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. The event will take place at the Hendrick I. Lott House, located at East 36th Street between Fillmore Avenue and Avenue S in Brooklyn.
“Due to the inclement weather last week, we have rescheduled the event for this Saturday and we hope that the community will join us for an afternoon of fun at the Lott House. There will be a pumpkin patch featuring treats and activities, and be sure to wear your costume if you want to enter the costume contest. And of course, we will be giving our “Golden Apples” to all who attend the festivities,” said Senator Golden.
Additionally, on Monday, October 31st, in what is now one of the largest Halloween events in the City, Senator Golden along with the Southwest Brooklyn Parks Task Force and the Community Emergency Response Team, will again present the Haunted Halloween Walk and Fairy Tale Forest. The festivities will start at Owl’s Head Park, 67th Street and Colonial Road, at 3:30 p.m. and conclude at 8:30 p.m. Among the attractions are rides, a food court, face painting, sand art and the FDNY Smokehouse. The event will also offer tours of the famed Haunted Walk and Fairytale Forest, and a costume contest is scheduled.
“It is that time of year again when the children of our community and families have a great day in Owl’s Head Park in celebration of Halloween. The costumes, the fun, the music and more, make this event one spectacular afternoon, and I as always, we promote this as a safe alternative to trick or treating. I look forward to seeing the costumes and the smiling faces,” said Senator Golden.
